Homemade Tacos

FAMILY FAVORITES FRIDAY

  HOMEMADE TACOS

You can make your own tacos quicker than you can go through the drive through at the local taco joint.  This recipe is easily doubled (or more) to fit your family or have "planned overs". It uses staples that you usually have in your pantry, so you don't need a taco mix.  Enjoy!

In this photo, we made taco salad instead of tacos.  I also used left over roast beef and onions (diced) and just added the seasonings.

1 lb. ground beef
1 small onion, chopped or 2 TBSP dried onion flakes
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder or 1 clove garlic, crushed
8 ounce can tomato sauce

In medium skillet, brown ground beef and onion; drain excess fat.  Stir in chili powder, salt, garlic powder and tomato sauce.  Simmer covered, 10 minutes.

Flour tortillas or taco shells
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
2 cups shredded lettuce
2 tomatoes, chopped
sour cream (put in sandwich baggie and snip off corner to make it squeezable- like photo.)
taco sauce or picante sauce
